December 79 my mortgage rate was 11.75%. That month in the HoC Thatcher announced that from the beginning of 1980 the rate would rise to 15%.
So called good old days.

Just a couple of small points.
1) The PM doesn't now and didn't then set mortgage rates. They are and were set by the banks and building societiesin competition with each other.
2) Base rates peaked at 17% in November 1979 and have fallen consistently ever since.
Apart from that - the entirety of your post, you are correct in every respect.

A 3 nil league defeat to Shrewsbury at Gay Meadow on the 15th December left us 9th in the old Division 2.
